Provincial Issues Day – Friday, June 8 – Join us for distinguished speakers, inspiring case studies and practical workshops that highlight ways to effectively provide green space and waterways for nature and people. The Provincial Issues Day plenary speaker is Dr. Reed F. Noss, Ph.D., University of Central Florida Davis-Shine Professor of Conservation Biology.

Saturday

Plenary: Ron Reid of the Couchiching Conservancy will bring us face to face with changing landscapes – discussing current issues such as urbanization, farm economics and climate change.

Sessions: presentations and discussions about Ontario’s changing landscape.

Workshops: topics ranging from nature photography to gardening with native plants.

Special guest speaker: award-winning author Kevin Callan shares a humorous look at paddling Ontario’s wilderness. Join this popular author and raconteur from Peterborough, the birthplace of the modern-day canoe, for his presentation: Misadventures in a Canoe.

Saturday & Sunday

Field trips: early morning bird walks, amphibian walks, astronomy, and outings to special places such as the new Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park.

Self-Guided excursions: outings for the whole family!
