#1 CARDEN PLAIN IMPORTANT BIRDING AREA
See this globally rare alvar habitat along a back road colourful with prairie smoke and Indian paintbrush, made melodious by grassland birds including loggerhead shrike, golden-wing warbler, sedge wren, and yellow rail. 1½ hr. NW. of Peterborough.

#2 WHETUNG GALLERY
The best of native and non-native art assembled from across Canada in a grand gallery on the Curve Lake Indian Reserve, 20 minutes north of Peterborough, off County Rd. 23.

#3 CANADIAN CANOE MUSEUM
With the world’s largest collection of canoes and kayaks, this museum tells the story of Aboriginal, French and British travel on Kawartha and Canadian lakes and streams as well as their fur-trading history. 910 Monaghan Rd, Peterborough.

#4 KAWARTHA RAIL TRAILS AND TRANS-CANADA TRAIL
The Parkway Trail, the Rotary Greenway Trail and the Trans-Canada Trail are all easily accessed in Peterborough. Ask members of PFN for directions and parking advice.

#5 PETERBOROUGH LIFTLOCK CENTRE
The Centre features historic and interactive displays of theTrent-Severn Waterway and lift lock construction. Multi-generational. Join a sightseeing cruise that takes you over the world’s highest hydraulic lift lock. For cruise information call 705-742-9912.

#6 HUTCHISON HOUSE
Visit this historic 1800’s house built for Peterborough’s first doctor. 705-743-9710.

#7 PETERBOROUGH CENTENNIAL MUSEUM
Stories, images and artifacts from the people and land of the Kawarthas. Museum Drive on top of Armour Hill, Hunter St. E., just above the liftlock.705 743-5180.

#8 LANG PIONEER VILLAGE
